Privacy policy

Vault 76 Builds is an independent project maintained by volunteer players. It is not an official product of Bethesda Softworks, ZeniMax Media or Microsoft, and has no commercial affiliation with Fallout 76.

When you create an account we ask for a username, an email address and a password. The password is hashed with scrypt and is never stored in plain text.

When you publish content (builds, guides, news, comments or reports) we store that content along with your username and the publication date.

If you decide to report another user's content, we store the report and the related administrative messages so the team can manage it.

Account data is used solely to identify you on the site, allow you to sign in and protect your account. Your email address is never displayed publicly and is never shared with third parties.

Any content you publish is visible to every visitor of the site and may be indexed by search engines. You can edit or delete it from your account at any time.

We use a single technical cookie that is strictly required to keep your session alive. It does not contain personally identifiable information, expires after a long inactivity period, and is not used for advertising.

To measure aggregated site usage we use Umami, a self-hosted analytics tool with no tracking cookies or advertising profiles. Umami records visits, page views, referrers, and anonymized technical data (browser, country, device). It respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control when your browser sends them.

While your account stays active we keep the data associated with it. If you delete your account, personally identifiable data (email, username and password hash) is permanently removed within at most 30 days.

We may keep backups for an additional period of up to 90 days for technical reasons, after which those backups are also deleted.

You can access your information, correct it, download a copy of your published content and request deletion of your account from your profile page. Deletion is effective immediately from your side and is carried out in the background within the periods described above.

If you have any additional request related to your personal data, contact us and we will handle it within a maximum of one month.

If we make material changes to this policy we will display a clear notice on the site and, if the change affects previously granted rights, we will email registered users. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.
